Getting to know AnimeWarp
Learn what AnimeWarp is, how it stays free, and why we intentionally keep the experience account-free.
What is AnimeWarp, exactly?
AnimeWarp is an open-source streaming interface that indexes metadata from AniList and pairs it with clean third-party players. We focus on fast search, spoiler-free details, and a distraction-free UI—no autoplaying ads, trackers, or sketchy pop-ups.
Do I have to register or pay anything?
Nope. All catalog browsing and playback run without sign-ups, subscriptions, or email capture. Your browser only stores lightweight preferences (theme, history chips, etc.) locally, so you can enjoy the catalog anonymously.
How do you keep the site sustainable without ads?
AnimeWarp is a community-side project. Infrastructure costs are kept low through aggressive caching, static generation, and a lean backend proxy. Contributors chip in via pull requests rather than intrusive ads.
Where episodes come from
Understand how we sync releases, why some episodes take longer to appear, and what to do when something looks off.
Where do metadata and streaming links originate?
Anime metadata (synopsis, cover art, schedules) comes directly from AniList via our `/lib/anilist` client. Episode streams are proxied from trusted mirrors like WatchAnimeWorld through our backend scraper, so we never expose the raw upstream URL to the browser.
Why are some episodes missing or labeled as placeholders?
When AniList reports that an episode exists but the mirror has not published a clean link yet, we render a placeholder card so you still see the correct numbering. The player will automatically backfill once the upstream host makes the file public. Refresh or revisit later to pick up the update.
Can I watch on mobile, tablet, or TV?
Yes. The UI scales down to small screens and the HLS players work inside mobile Safari/Chrome. For TVs, cast the tab or plug the site into a smart-TV browser—just be sure to use a verified domain listed on the Official Domains page so you avoid imposters.
Fixing player issues
Quick troubleshooting tips for buffering, “source not found”, or subtitle problems without digging into developer tools.
The player is blank / says “source not found.” What now?
First, reload once to request a fresh token from our API cache. If that fails, switch to another mirror inside the player tray (different mirrors update at different speeds) and make sure privacy extensions are not blocking the iframe—our Adblock Tips page lists the exact filters to whitelist.
Streams buffer forever or desync on my network.
Most mirrors throttle aggressive VPNs or shared DNS resolvers. Try disabling the VPN temporarily, set your DNS to a mainstream resolver, or lower the quality via the gear icon. We intentionally expose multiple bitrates so you can pick the one your connection can sustain.
Why are dubs or subtitles missing on certain shows?
Dub and subtitle tracks depend on what the upstream provider publishes. We surface whatever audio + caption variants their manifest exposes; if a show is sub-only on WatchAnimeWorld, it will also be sub-only on AnimeWarp. Feel free to report gaps so we can hunt for a better mirror.
Staying safe on AnimeWarp
We do not host media ourselves, and we outline the best way to confirm ownership, takedowns, and safe domains.
Do you host any of the files or track personal data?
No. Videos remain on third-party CDNs. AnimeWarp only proxies metadata and embed links so that your browser loads them securely. We do not run user accounts, and the Privacy Policy covers the minimal analytics we gather (anonymous performance metrics).
How are DMCA or removal requests handled?
Send the required notice to the address on our DMCA page. We can remove the embedding pointer or block specific AniList IDs from surfacing, but remember that we cannot delete content from hosts we do not control.
How do I verify I am on the real AnimeWarp?
Bookmark the domains listed on the Official Domains page and watch for the Clapperboard header. We never ask you to install browser extensions or crypto wallets—if a site posing as AnimeWarp does, it is a fake.
Requesting shows and reporting issues
AnimeWarp thrives on contributor feedback. Here is how to get help, suggest features, or partner up responsibly.
How do I request a missing title or report a bad mirror?
Open a GitHub issue or reach us through the Contribute page with the AniList ID, episode number, and what went wrong. That context lets us reproduce the problem quickly and patch the scraper or swap mirrors.
Can I collaborate or offer mirrors/partnerships?
Yes—review the Partners page for requirements (uptime guarantees, clean players, attribution). Once you meet those points, message us with sample streams so we can vet the integration.
Where else can I learn more about upcoming features?
Keep an eye on our GitHub releases and the Contribute page. We post roadmap updates, bounty-style issues, and calls for translators there whenever we spin up something new.
